Spotlight on People — Appointments and promotions in the industry

Nulco Lighting, based in Pawtucket, R.I., has appointed Donald Lyons to the position of regional sales manager. Lyons has 15 years of sales and marketing experience, having served as the regional sales manager for Corbett Lighting in Carrollton, Texas. He will be working with the company’s independent lighting represen-tatives.
     Springfield, Mo.-based Decorize, Inc. has named Dur Staten as a key account sales representative. With more than 20 years of experience in sales, product development, and operations, Staten was most recently general manager of The Bramble Company, and prior to that, held the position of vp/sales & marketing for Stone County Ironworks. He has also worked with the retailers J.C. Penney, Pottery Barn, The Great Indoors, and Restoration Hardware.
     Pamela Horner has been appointed to the newly created position of environmental marketing manager at Danvers, Mass.-based OSRAM Sylvania. Horner will work closely with the company’s industry relations and standards department concerning federal and state policies on environmental and energy-related issues.
     Cerritos, Calif.-based Fredrick Ramond has appointed Philip Marlow as vp/sales & marketing. He is responsible for both the lighting and furniture divisions and will create and implement corporate sales initiatives. Marlow has more than 25 years of experience, most recently with Corbett Lighting.
     San Leandro, Calif.-based Prescolite, Inc. has appointed Bill Foley vp/brand management. Foley’s new duties will include all marketing and product development activities. Prior to joining the company, he spent 10 years at Cooper Lighting handling product development, strategic planning and marketing, and was most recently marketing manager of the Metalux fluorescent brand.
     White Plains, N.Y.-based George Little Management has promoted Leslie Nathan-Street to senior vice president. Nathan-Street will be responsible for sales, marketing, and strategic planning for the New York International Gift Fair® and the GLM-managed divisions of both the San Francisco Inter-national Gift Fair® and The Gift Fair in Atlanta®. She has also been named GLM’s show director for the New York International Gift Fair and The Gift Fair in Atlanta.
     In addition, GLM has announced a series of staff changes related to several of its other shows. Penny Sikalis has been named group show manager and John Erich has been promoted to show manager of the GLM Temporaries at the Dallas International Gift & Home Accessories Market. Lynn White has been named show manager of the GLM-managed divisions of the San Francisco International Gift Fair. Deborah Hilfman is now show manager of the New York International Gift Fair. Paula Bertolotti has been named divisional manager of the new Tabletop & Housewares division, which will be launched at the Gift Fair in Atlanta next January. Sherise Webb has been promoted to exhibit sales manager of the GLM Temporaries at the Dallas International Gift & Home Acces-sories Market. In addition, Lynne Anderson has been named exhibit sales manager for the Boston Gift Show.
     William Marshall has been promoted to vp/sales & marketing of Little Neck, N.Y.-based Leviton Manufacturing Company. With more than 28 years of experience in electrical manufacturing, Marshall joined Leviton in 1994 as vp/ED marketing.
     The Wagner Companies, based in Milwaukee, has named Katie Eich customer service coordinator. She will be responsible for improve-ments in the Wagner catalog product line and the training of new inside sales representatives. Scott Zander and Tom Froelich have joined Wagner as customer service representatives.
     Based in Laurel, Miss., Howard Industries has promoted Chris Logan to vp/OEM sales and national accounts. Logan will immediately resume responsibility for the major OEM accounts as well as national accounts. He has worked in both operations and sales in his six years with the company.
     Steve Elsdon and Bill Briggs have been appointed to new positions at Long Island City, N.Y.-based Cooper Wiring Devices and Cooper Retail Divisions in Canada. Elsdon becomes the new director of Cooper Wiring Devices, Canada, and will direct the Canadian retail division. Formerly national sales manager for the group, Briggs will report to Elsdon in the newly created position of national sales manager/Cooper Retail Division, which includes both the Cooper Wiring Devices and Cooper Light-ing product line in the Canadian retail marketplace.
     Chicago-based Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. (MMPI) has appointed Richard T. Norfolk property manager of The Merchan-dise Mart. He joined MMPI in 1997 as vp/special projects in MMPI’s trade show division and managed leasing efforts for a trade show focusing on the healthcare industry prior to being appointed vice president of MMPI’s properties in High Point. Two new members have been elected to the board of directors of the International Housewares Association (IHA): Jean-René Gougelet, chief executive officer, Mikasa, Inc./Arc Interational, and Paul Mayer, president, Chaney Instrument Co. Prior to joining Chaney, Mayer was chief operating officer for Wisconsin Furniture and general manager of Watlow Gordon. IN MEMORIAM Paul Munyon, 63, western regional sales manager for Quoizel, died May 6, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Munyon began his career at Quoizel as vp/sales. Known for his fashionable attire and personal energy, he was responsible for many creative techniques, which he employed while developing the Quoizel sales force.
     He is survived by his wife, Gayle, son, Todd, and daughter, Elizabeth.
     In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Munyon’s name to the Southwest Wildlife Rehabilitation & Educational Foundation, PMB #115, 8711 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85255. A wildlife habitat will be built there in his memory.
